The Poppins Principle

"In every job that must be done there is an element of fun. Find the fun and "snap" the jobs a game."

I love this principle and so does Joshua. When he is not into doing what mommy asks of him I can usually get him to do what I want if I make a silly game of it. The bigger challange for me is remembering that "silly games" do work in getting the mandane jobs done with little to no resitance.

That's such a great reminder! I was recently reading a book that quoted Proverbs 29:15
"The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself brings his mother shame."
It's been a motivator to keep Justus with me more and take the extra time to encourage his help instead of wanting to get it done in a hurry. I'm finding that doing it alone just means he's into something a room away that I usually have to clean up once I'm done and I find myself constantly "chasing" the mess.
It's a stretch for me to wait and not worry if his little hands don't put the dish in straight or get all the dirt in the dust pan. But I'm learning, and hopefully he is too.
Now if only we WERE Mary Poppins..."Practically perfect in every way." : ) Blessings
